Yes, we are getting our posse together despite or shall I say in spite of the Kensington Strangler upping the ante once again... There's no better time then now to show presence in a neighborhood famous for its blight, drug trafficing and prostitution. Refer to above articles and put 2 and 2 together people. Be of service to your sisters in the trade....working the streets...we pray that they stay safe and out of harms way.
Recently , the Biz had its first guest speaker, Jo ! Thank you for your service!
This is something we plan to do on a monthly basis. We also plan on taking our speakers out into the recovery community, to prisons and also to particular meetings(Last Stop, Kensington, NA, SLA, etc!)
So, what's the deal? Is internet law changing? Is this what the rallying around the issue of Prostitution in the Adult Services section of Craigs List? WTF? Inquiring minds want to know!
Please check out the article "Turning The Corner", (www.m.phillyweekly.com) about Dawns Court ,a new program designed to keep sexworkers out of the vicious cycle of arrest and incarceration by giving them another chance ....I would love to hear all about what you think...so post a comment! It is shocking(are you outraged yet??!!) but in some parts of Washington D.C. you can be persecuted/prosecuted for carrying too many condoms! Please refer to "Sex Workers In The News" and my Bloglist ("The Republic Of T.")on this page for more info. Welcome to 1984 and the true Police State! This in dispicable, as it will only lead to fear and desperation, an increase in all stds including HIV! Persecuting and scapegoating Sexworkers for practicing Safer Sex has bled onto the general public and bleed it will. The local government has blood on its hands as this will cost both quality of life and lives-that includes EVERYONE who dares to venture out, have and/ or consider having safer sex!!!
Come share your experience, strength and hope with other sex workers and ex-sexworkers in recovery from alcohol and/or drugs in a safe validating space.
The Biz Meeting Mondays, 7:30pm@ Passional Toy Store.
